Who We Are
What is BTU?
A community based nonprofit organization started by 6 friends to encourage change within our communities. Our friendship helped us realize that the collective is more important than the individual, which eventually led us into creating Bigger Than Us aka BTU!
BTU is a movement that offers hope and inspiration! We started Bigger Than Us with a bigger mission in mind—one that would positively impact all young black kids as they grow up, creating better lives for them. At that time, it was personal for us. We wanted to change the narrative surrounding how they see us, we wanted to redefine success, and explore what it means to be professional, especially since we often didn’t fit that standard. We aimed to challenge the stigmas and negative perceptions associated with being a young black boy in America. Our success with BTU not only changed people’s minds about how they view us, but it also pushed the limits on what someone from our background can accomplish. We aim to give our generation hope and inspiration in everything we do. We will continue to build this empire, and we hope our legacy will carry on with the next generation that we, as men, are raising.
